Advanced National Seismic System

The Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) is a team effort involving the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), as well as regional, state, and academic organizations. It gathers and examines data about important earthquakes to quickly supply information to emergency responders, officials, the media, and the public, usually within 10 to 30 minutes.[1]
